The church library has received a number of good books and video tapes donated by church members. The highly acclaimed “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini has been given by Jean Brown. This is a story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan’s last thirty years that puts the violence, fear, hope and faith of that country in intimate, human terms. Also from Jean is a copy of C.S. Lewis’ “Chronicles of Narnia” which includes seven separate stories. Ray Ruark has given a copy of “The Oxford Illustrated History of Christianity”, a large volume with a wealth of historical information. From Tom McNeil we have received “The Ten Commandments For Today” by Walter J. Harrelson and “Living Religions” by John B. Noss. Blair Stewart has donated three very interesting video tapes: “Bonhoeffer, Agent of Grace” (90 minutes); “Amazing Grace: 5 Hymns That Changed the World” (70 minutes); and “Landmarks of Faith: Puritan New England” (46 minutes). A big THANK YOU to Blair, Tom, Ray and Jean. The library has a large collection of books about Advent and Christmas. These have been gathered together and placed on the top and bottom shelves (left side) of the bookcase straight ahead as you enter the library. All are available for check-out so hurry in while the selection is good! The library is open from 9 am to 11:45 am on Sundays and from 9:30am to Noon on Thursdays.

Remember, we have many versions of the Bible and sacred texts of other religions. We have Bible commentaries, books about Jesus, Peter, Paul, and other Apostles. Books about marriage, parenting, mediation, health, death, biographies, large print books and all kinds of fiction. We have a whole section for youth and elementary grades. We also have videos, DVD’s, audio cassettes, and CD’s. The cards in the library are there to help you find books. They are filed under author, title, and subject.

If you cannot find a book, ask the librarians, Louise Olivarez or Lucille Rowoldt. Books may be borrowed by members of Fort King. Our sincere thanks to all of you who donate books that you have read, enjoyed, and want others to enjoy them as well.
